Destroy & Create
YOU SELECTED RED
Proceed to the Red Table
This activity invites you to release what feels heavy, then transform it into something new. Through destroying and recreating, notice what shifts within you and what begins to emerge.
Your Creative Experience
-
Approximately 15 minutes
Materials:
One piece of paper
Any additional materials you would like to explore
-
No matter how difficult, heavy, or negative something may feel, we can still create change and make something new from it.
What needs to be created now?
Transformation can take many forms—from darkness into light, brokenness into repair, or pressure into something unexpectedly beautiful.
-
1. Check in
Begin with slow, diaphragmatic breathing. Notice how your body feels before you start.
Recall the thoughts, emotions, or experiences that may be causing you distress.
2. Destroy
Feel the energy moving through your body and release it by destroying the paper.
You may tear, crumple, twist, fold, or alter it in whatever way feels right.
Take approximately two minutes.
3. Pause and breathe
Take another slow, diaphragmatic breath.
4. Create
Use the destroyed paper to create something new. Take approximately eight minutes—or as much time as you need.
When you are finished, imagine your piece is displayed in a museum.
What would it be called? Give your creation a title.
-
Reflect on your experience:
What shifted inside you when you recalled your distress?
What did you do to destroy the paper?
Was there anything else you wanted to do but didn’t?
How did it feel to destroy it?
What happened inside you when you were invited to create something from the destroyed paper?
How did you give yourself permission to play?
Did you use anything or anyone to support your process?
What did you create?
Is there a connection between what you created and what you currently need or want?
